Say! It has been a while since I last shared some of the radio commercials I write and produce for my beloved employer! So here are some fairly recent ones.
We start with two spots for Alliance Community Pharmacy. The first is to promote a contest for the last baby born in our fair city in October. No sales pitch, just a message to tell people about the contest. So I called the local baby talent agency and put this together.
(I didn’t really call a baby talent agency. That baby was in our sound effects library. He or she is probably now 41 years old.)
The second ad for ACP is to alert folks to the fact that they can do a variety of health tests. Herr Kroheim von Cougheim does a very convincing job playing someone who doesn’t want to be anywhere near a cough or sniffle.
Next, we have two commercials for Village Pizza. In both of these Gles plays the straight man and I play the fool. Note that in the second commercial, I sing. I am well aware that my singing is sub-par. But I am the only person in the building willing to sing a song about pizza. I have learned over 25 years to divest myself of any shame where recording commercials is concerned.
And last but not least, America’s preeminent spokesweirdo, Bob S. Bestos. Everyone’s in such a hurry to celebrate Halloween…
Bob has been making return visits to my morning program after an extended sabbatical in Antarctica. And he’ll be on KCOW Halloween weekend with an all-new special. This will be theeeeeeeeee….6th annual? That sounds about right. Bob has promised that he won’t lock me out of the studio and try to run everything himself, like he did last year:
