So, funny thing….I recently did a post about the two fellows who did the voice of Fred Flintstone. It’s here if you haven’t seen it yet. Once in a blue moon I decide to do a little paid advertising of the ol’ bloggy to the Faceboook universe out there just to see what happens. Advertising, you see, gets results. Ahem. Anyway, I threw 12 bucks at Facebook and now my Fred Flintstone post has….lemme check….145 likes. And a few shares. Which goes to prove that people love Fred Flintstone. It proves nothing about the loveability (not a word) of me or my “World”. It just happens that Fred Flintstone is a very accessible and universally appealing subject.
This result, however, will not make me skew my blog to maintain that brisk level of traffic. I started this thing to have a place to share stuff that interests me in the hope that one or two people might also find them interesting every now and then.
For example, once in a while I like to post commercials I’ve worked on. In this case we begin with two commercials, for Carter’s Home Hardware and Appliance. This first one actually hasn’t aired on the radio yet–it’s a sneak preview! A Wentyworld exclusive or some such.
As with all of our Carter’s spots, this was put together spontaneously in the studio; Greg, Lisa and I toss around ideas and record a mess of lines and things, and then I carve it into a commercial. When Carter’s needs to run a “generic” ad–something just to keep them in the public eye for a few days in-between sales and promotions–we have a little fun with the scraps that are left over from our recording sessions:
Next we have a couple of promos. First, there’s absolutely nothing flashy about this Girl Scout cookie promo. It’s just me, just chatting. But I liked how it came out, despite the fact that I’m the one talking.
And last but not least, a promo for our website’s Valentine’s Day photo contest. Rachel Fox of Hays, Kansas did some marvelous line readings as the girlfriend, and Kalin Krohe–The Spot SaverĀ®–does a great job as the boyfriend.
So there you have it. Commercials and promos!
Oh, and, uh….Yabba Dabba Doo! Maybe that’s good for another like or two.
